RecoBoost is a recommendation engine and upsell app for Shopify. Choose from 11 logic types—including AI Auto-Optimize, Trending, Bestsellers, Recently viewed, cart recovery, collaborative filters, Similar Items (AI), and Complete the Look—and place widgets across your storefront, checkout, and email. On product pages, add a bundle discount CTA (Core plan+) that applies automatically at checkout. On cart pages, use cart upsell mode with a free-shipping progress bar, cross-sell, and one-tap add. AI Auto-Optimize learns click-through rates and picks the most effective logic. Track impressions, clicks, and conversions in the dashboard.
RecoBoost is designed to be as simple as possible. Just add a widget in the theme editor and pick a recommendation type—that is it. No app-side setup, no complex rules, no parameter tuning. The admin is divided into Dashboard, Widget placements, Recommendation settings, Plans & billing, Email recommendations, and FAQ—open only what you need.
Virtually not at all. RecoBoost widgets load asynchronously, so they never block the rest of the page from rendering. Recommendation data is served from edge caches for fast retrieval, meaning your customers will not notice any slowdown.
Just add a widget in the theme editor. Go to Online store → Themes → Customize, open the page where you want recommendations, and add a section → Apps tab → RecoBoost block (or Add block → RecoBoost in an existing section). Pick a recommendation type and save—done.
In Shopify admin go to Online store → Themes → Customize, select the page (Home, Product, Cart, etc.), then in the preview add a section → Apps tab → RecoBoost block, or in an existing section choose Add block → RecoBoost. Set the recommendation type, heading, number of products, etc., and save.
A page that shows all the RecoBoost widgets you have added via the theme editor at a glance—which page has which recommendation type. You can jump directly to the theme editor for any widget. The same logic can be placed on multiple pages, and there is no limit on the number of placements.
Recommendations based on other shoppers' behavior (views, add-to-cart, purchases). Accuracy improves as more data is collected. Right after launch or with low traffic, you may see fewer recommendations or fall back to Trending.
Every plan allows up to 11 unique logic types in Recommendation settings (covering every logic in the app). Each distinct logic—Trending versus Bestsellers, for example—counts once; repeating the same logic on multiple theme pages still counts as one type. Widget placements are unlimited. Upgrading your plan does not raise this cap.
Check that you added the RecoBoost block in the theme editor and saved; that RecoBoost is enabled under "App embeds" (required for browsing history); that the RecoBoost Web Pixel is enabled in checkout settings if conversions are 0; that real events are happening on the store. It can take a short time for events to be aggregated and shown.
All tiers include every recommendation logic (11 types) and Shopify Flow. Plans differ by recommendation pool size and a few features: Free 250 / Starter 2,000 / Core 10,000 / Pro unlimited products. Email recommendations require Starter or higher; bundle discounts require Core or higher. On Free, storefront recommendations pause if your catalog exceeds the cap. Shops already using RecoBoost may keep the previous Free cap (up to 5,000 products). Monthly prices: Free $0 / Starter $9.90 / Core $29 / Pro $49 (annual = 10× monthly). Shopify invoice wording may differ from in-app tier names. Free skips Shopify billing approval; paid tiers include a 30-day trial. Widget placements are unlimited.
Free stays at $0 with no Shopify app subscription trial. Paid tiers include a 30-day free trial, then Shopify billing resumes. Manage changes or cancellations from Plans & billing in the RecoBoost admin; access continues through the trial or prepaid period.
Use the Language option in the top-right of the admin to switch between Japanese and English. This applies to the RecoBoost admin and some widget text, and is separate from your store theme language.
Yes. When a customer clicks a product in your RecoBoost widget and completes a purchase (an attributed conversion), you can start a Shopify Flow workflow. In Shopify admin, open the Flow app, create a workflow, and choose RecoBoost's trigger (e.g. RecoBoost recommendation converted). Combine it with Flow actions like adding customer tags or sending internal notifications. Your store must support Shopify Flow and have the Flow app installed.
Email recommendations let you embed dynamic product images in your marketing emails. Paste a single <img> tag into your template in Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend, Shopify Email, or any ESP. When the email is opened, a real-time product recommendation image is generated automatically. Available on the Starter plan or higher.
Available on the Starter plan or higher. Go to the Email recommendations page in the app admin, enable the feature, and choose a recommendation logic. Copy the code snippet (an <img> tag) and paste it into your ESP's template. If you use a browsing-history-based logic, the snippet automatically includes your ESP's merge tag for the recipient's email address. On Free you cannot save settings or serve email images.
MCP lets you check and change RecoBoost settings from chat in tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or Codex. On MCP settings, press the connect button for your tool (one-click for Cursor; copy-paste for Claude / Codex). Manual tokens (stdio) are also available for power users. Available on all plans.
Ask your connected AI (Cursor, Claude, Codex, etc.) in plain language to: [Check] setup status, plan/billing, dashboard summary, recommendation configs, theme widget placement (including heading size, products to show, and other visual settings), email recommendation settings, and product search; [Change] update a recommendation config, patch email recommendation settings, add/remove theme widgets, batch-update visual settings (heading, font size, layout, products to show, etc.), or sync logic. Examples: “Is setup complete?”, “Add recommendation widgets to all configurable pages”, “Set the product widget heading size to 32px and show 8 products”, “Summarize the recent dashboard”. Checkout / thank-you placement (use the checkout editor) and billing subscribe/cancel are intentionally not available via MCP.
