Cart recovery

Cart recovery reminds shoppers of products they already chose to add—but have not checked out. It aims to recover existing purchase intent rather than generating new interest, guiding customers to complete their unfinished transactions.

How it works

  • Identifies unique add-to-cart signals that have not yet resulted in a completed purchase for a specific shopper.
  • Presents these identified unfinished cart items as personalized recommendations to encourage completion.
  • Functions seamlessly within email campaigns when the RecoBoost snippet includes the recipient's email merge tag for personalization.

Best placements

  • Homepages and Content Pages

Integrates abandoned items back into the shopper's browsing journey, encouraging reconsideration.

  • Cart page

Highlights unfinished cart items directly on the cart page, reinforcing purchase intent before checkout.

  • Email

Integrates with Email Service Provider (ESP) merge tags to dynamically reflect each shopper's current cart state upon email opening.

Things to know

  • Distinct from cart cross-sell: recovery focuses on re-displaying unfinished items, whereas cross-sell suggests new, complementary products.
  • Requires robust cart tracking. Limited cart history for a shopper will result in fewer recommendation items.
  • Ensure RecoBoost App Embeds and Web Pixels are correctly enabled for accurate and reliable signal collection.
